The classification determines the quantity allowed in a control area, the tank separation distances and the protection requirements. It is the starting point for almost every other calculation involving liquids.

  • The flash point was measured in a closed cup. An open-cup measurement gives a higher value and is not suitable for classification.
  • The 37.8°C boundary between a flammable liquid and a combustible liquid is verified and in our hands — Procedure 27 §3.11–3.12. What is missing is the IA/IB/IC/II/IIIA/IIIB sub-classification split and the boiling point condition, which the procedure refers to in footnotes 25 and 26 (NFPA 30 2024, table 9.6.1).

What is blocked, and what would release it

    One specific part is missing, not the whole document. The principal boundary is held and verified: procedure 27 §3.11–3.12 defines a flammable liquid as one with a flash point below 37.8 °C and a combustible liquid as one above it, and appendix ג page 15 carries the class names and their quantities. What the procedure does not carry is the sub-classification split itself — what separates IA from IB from IC, where class II sits, and what separates IIIA from IIIB — together with the boiling point condition that divides the lowest band. The procedure points there explicitly: footnotes 25 and 26 on page 15 attribute the values to NFPA 30 (2024), tables 9.6.1 and 18.5.4.
